Each Poppy is unique and will be on sale in the Stable Yard shops at Hatfield House from 27th October to raise money for the nation’s leading Armed forces charity, The Royal British Legion. We’re going to be doing it all again next Tuesday in The Coach House Restaurant, so if you fancy making a Poppy, come along and join in from 10.30! Hope to see you!

Get Your Funny Feet On!

You are invited to a coffee morning in aid of The Eve Appeal

 Tuesday 25th September 2012 from 10am to 11.30am

The Coach House Restaurant, Stable Yard, Hatfield House

Come and enjoy free coffee & cake in return for a donation to the Eve Appeal.

Every day in the UK, 50 women are diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer and 20 die. The Eve Appeal are determined to change this and we need your help! A lot of women are embarrassed to deal with issues of a gynaecological nature and so diagnosis is often delayed.

This September, The Eve Appeal are asking people to ‘Stop Pussyfooting Around’ and not only learn the signs and symptoms of the five gynaecological cancers but also help raise money to fund world class research into these cancers to save women’s lives.

The idea is that people wear the *“wrong shoes” to work or a social occasion, like a coffee morning, and make a donation to The Eve Appeal, to have fun and raise awareness and funds for this important women’s cause.

So, please come along to our coffee morning, enter the raffle and wear the “wrong shoes” for the day.

Anything goes, Odd shoes, Wellington Boots, Slippers, Clogs etc!

It’s simple, it’s fun and it’s for a great cause! We look forward to seeing you!

*It is not compulsory to wear the wrong shoes!  You could just bring them in your bag to wear at the coffee morning, or just wear you normal footwear!

But it will be fun and it’s for a great cause!

We hope you had a fantastic bank holiday weekend and enjoyed the festivities as much as we did!

The Jubilee may well be over but there is still plenty to celebrate this month – particularly for the men!

The Euro Championships kick off soon with England’s first game on Monday 11th June so why not get into the spirit with some festive football partyware from The Oak Room including cups, plates, napkins, flags and bunting.

Father’s Day is on Sunday 17th June and here at The Oak Room we have a great selection of cards and gifts if you’re looking for something just a little bit different.  You may have spotted our Fish Soap on A Rope in this month’s Country Living and the Blackbird Keyring Holder in Bella magazine but here are some more ideas to inspire you, all available online and in store.

This morning we rushed out to buy our copy of the Commemorative Jubilee issue of My Weekly.

We were really looking forward to seeing The Royal Pop tops in their full glory. Food Stylist, Sue Ashwoth has used the Royals toppers to top of her magnificent Jubilee Street Party Cake. The magazine features the recipe for the cake and is also full of fab facts, ideas and makes for Jubilee parties. We especially loved the My weekly “Coronation Number” replica insert.

The “Royal Pop tops”  that Sue used to decorate her cake cost £2.99 for a pack of 12 toppers. You’ll find them along with lots of other goodies in the “Celebrate 2012” category of our website in the “Celebration & Seasonal” section. If you’re planning to celebrate with a street party or soirée, then we have everything you need online and in store to make your shopping a little easier.   Our selection of Red, White and Blue partyware, will ensure you have all the right royal regalia to get you in the festive mood!

We just had to show you some of the buttons that arrived yesterday from France, as it may take a few days before we can get them all on line! We’ve been in button heaven the last couple of days, carefully unpacking and sorting.  The buttons also came with some rather lovely felt friends…
